What you decide to take with you will very much depend on who you are cruising with, the time of year, and where your river cruise is going to take you!
What to Pack For During the Day
River cruising is often very relaxed, and the experience is as much about the activities that you experience on land, as well as on your river cruise ship. Many river cruise guests will enjoy hiking, cycling, walking tours, and much more. So comfortable clothes and supportive footwear will be needed.
If you have opted for a European river cruise, we recommend that you pack layers. Regardless of the time of year you travel, the weather can be changeable between countries, so please pack accordingly. We suggest bringing a combination of light and warm clothing, as well as waterproof clothing in case of inclement weather.
If you are cruising a river in the Middle East, please be aware that whilst it can be humid, you will need to take modest clothing to respect their local traditions.
When cruising rivers in countries such as Cambodia and Vietnam, you will need to pack lighter clothing, as the weather there will be hot and humid. We also recommend that you bring sun cream, a sun hat, and sunglasses with you.
What to Pack For the Evening
Evenings can be formal onboard, so we recommend packing smarter wear for the evenings. Some river cruise lines can also offer amazing experiences such as ballet and classical concerts on shore, where you will have the opportunity to dress up!
We recommend that you check your cruise line's website for further guidance on what to pack. Click on the relevant cruise line supplier from our list below;
