Am I financially protected when booking with Iglu?
Yes. Regardless of how you pay, your holiday package is financially protected. Iglu.com Ltd is a stable, secure business, and we maintain full membership of ABTA (#J0332) and IATA, alongside our own ATOL licence.
What does ATOL protected mean?
ATOL protection is the UK Government-backed safety net for holidays that include flights. If you book a package with air travel through us, your money is legally protected. Should a travel provider or airline cease trading before you depart, you are entitled to a full refund. If you are already overseas, the scheme ensures you can finish your holiday and covers the cost of your flight home. You will receive an ATOL Certificate immediately after booking; this is your proof of cover.
What does ABTA protected mean?
Booking with an ABTA member provides an extra layer of security for your money and a guarantee of service standards. ABTA protects your payments while they are in our care, acting as a safeguard for your money from the moment you pay us until it is passed to the holiday organiser.
In addition to this financial security, we commit to the ABTA Code of Conduct. This ensures you receive high service standards, clear information, and access to an independent dispute resolution service if things do not go to plan.
The legal detail
All package holidays sold in the UK must have financial protection by law. It is important to note that a cruise is considered a package holiday in its own right. This means that "cruise-only" bookings or "no-fly" cruises are fully protected, even without a flight.
For packages where we are the operator and a flight is included, protection is provided by our own Air Travel Organisers Licence (ATOL #2987). For packages where we are the operator but a flight is not included (such as cruise-only holidays), your money is protected by a Financial Failure insurance policy held with Evolution Insurance.
When we act as an agent for other licensed tour operators or cruise lines, your holiday is protected under their own statutory arrangements, such as their ATOL, bond, or insurance. This ensures that every package holiday we sell is fully protected in accordance with UK regulations. Please note that standalone bookings, such as a hotel-only booking, may not be part of these financial protection schemes; our team will always clarify this with you before you book.
